Her story: In 2005, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) informed Maria Luisa that there was a warrant for her deportation. Donnelly and Associates approached the Immigration Court with the appropriate paperwork reopening deportation proceedings, effectively giving Maria Luisa a second chance to stay in the country. Donnelly and Associates asked the court to terminate her deportation proceedings so that Maria Luisa could get her green card.
Result: Success. After trying to immigrate for five years, Maria Luisa received her green card on February 10, 2010. With Donnelly and Associates' guidance and perseverance, Maria is now a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Marcelo
His story: Marcelo hired Donnelly and Associates on January 10, 1998 in order to obtain his green card through his employer, a Mexican food restaurant. The law firm immediately contacted the Texas Workforce Commission to begin Marcelo's labor certification process.
Result: Success. After many delays due to changes in the law and government backlogs, Marcelo finally received his green card on June 11, 2002. In 2005, he received his permanent resident card as a Mexican Food Chef. Thanks to the support of his employer and the excellent work of Donnelly and Associates, Marcelo is now a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Juan de Anda
His story: Juan de Anda walked into the office of Donnelly and Associates on January 8, 1998 in order to find out if he could get his green card through his job as a Diesel Mechanic. Soon after meeting Margaret A. Donnelly, he hired the law firm.
Result: Success. It took eleven years for Juan to become a permanent resident through his job. The government did not make it easy. On March 29, 2010, Juan and his wife, Maria, wrote: "A thousand thanks!"
Juan Hernandez
His story: When Juan Hernandez made an appointment to see Margaret A. Donnelly on June 11, 2009, he did not expect to hear good news. His oldest daughter had become a U.S. citizen and wanted to petition for him, but other lawyers had told him that he had to leave the United States in order to be interviewed for his permanent residence. Fortunately, before leaving for Mexico, he decided to contact Ms. Donnelly.
Result: Success. Ms. Donnelly investigated his family's immigration history and found a way for him to be interviewed without leaving the U.S. His interview was in Dallas, Texas. On February 16, 2010, the U.S. government sent him a "Welcome to America" letter. He is now a permanent resident of the United States.
Gloria
Her story: After several lawyers told Gloria she would have to wait seven or eight years to get her green card because that was the average waiting time for an "adult" (over the age of 21), Gloria turned to Donnelly and Associates hoping for better news. Gloria was 24 years old when she hired Margaret A. Donnelly to help her get her permanent residence.
Result: Success. Even though Gloria was over 21 years old, Ms. Donnelly found a way to change the legal interpretation of "adult" by using the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) of 2002. Ms. Donnelly filed Gloria's adjustment application just in time for Gloria to be treated as someone under 21 years of age. Had Gloria waited one more month, she would have lost her opportunity and would have been forced to wait seven or eight more years. She became a permanent resident of the United States on January 30, 2006.
