“Roads That Bind”: A Documentary Empowering Relations Between American Nations

PRIVATE DOCUMENTARY SCREENING – “OUR AMERICAS: ROADS THAT BIND”

Dallas Locals Wrote, Produced & Directed Film Uncovering Untold Histories of Americas

DALLAS, TX/USA – July 8, 2014 – On Thursday July 14 the Mexico Institute will host a pre-screening of locally-produced documentary, “Our Americas: Roads That Bind.” This film showcases the storytelling talents of local Hispanic writers, directors and producers.

The first in a series, this documentary explores the evidence of ancient connections between Central, South and North America. Previously unexplored similarities between cultures speak to close historical connections between faraway places on the Western Hemisphere. Were the peoples who lived here hundreds or thousands of years ago more closely unified by trade routes than we have considered before?

Executive Producer Margaret Donnelly says, “Regarding both the past and the present, I believe it is important that we all understand the ties that bind North, Central and South America. This series of films explores the underlying and generally unrecognized unity that offers to empower the identities and economies of and relationships between our American nations.” Director Alex Garcia Topete of Nowadays Orange Productions plans to screen the documentary at multiple film festivals later this year.
